Character

The name comes from the Ballentine pioneer family. The Dutch Fork itself takes its name from the German, or "Deutsch," settlers who arrived between the 1730s and 1760s.

History

Ballentine's post office opened in 1891, and in 1925 the community counted about 50 residents.
