Ascot Estates is the estate-lot section of the larger Ascot community, which sits off Kennerly Road and has its clubhouse on Steeple Ridge Road. It lies in the Dutch Fork, the wedge of land between the Broad and Saluda rivers. It carries an Irmo mailing address (ZIP 29063) but lies on the Richland County side of the area, about 1.5 miles west of the Broad River. River Springs Elementary is roughly 0.7 miles away, and Dutch Fork Middle and Dutch Fork High sit side by side on Old Tamah Road a little over two miles to the northwest. For groceries and the interstate, residents head south on Kennerly Road to Broad River Road. Kennerly Crossing is about four miles away and I-26 about five.

Character
Ascot Estates is the estate-lot section of the larger Ascot community and holds its biggest houses. Homes typically run from 4,000 to more than 10,000 square feet on wooded lots of about an acre, and many have private pools. Custom builders shaped much of the streetscape, including recent work by Columbia's Dunbar Builders on Laurent Way. Turnover is rare. Local agents counted just two closings in 2025, at $838,700 and $1,000,000. Laurent Way and Dunleith Way end in quiet cul-de-sacs, and the neighborhood has a community pool, tennis courts and a playground.
History
The Mungo Company, a Columbia-area homebuilder, launched Ascot Estates in 1995. Belter & Associates drew the first plat, dated April 22, 1995, which laid out the original 22 lots, and it was recorded with the Richland County RMC. On August 21, 1995, the developer filed covenants that created an architectural control committee, required retaining walls faced in brick, stone or stucco, and barred chain-link fences without approval. Building continued for more than a decade, with some Dunleith Way homes finished in 2007, while newer Ascot sections filled in nearby. Ascot Woods was still selling new homes in 2020.
