IRMO, S.C. — Bass Pro Shops announced plans for a new 110,000-square-foot Outdoor World along Broad River Road in Irmo, about three miles from Lake Murray, with an opening targeted for late 2027.
It would become the brand’s fourth full destination store in the Palmetto State and is projected to add more than 120 local jobs. Hiring details will be posted on the company’s careers site when positions open.
Company founder Johnny Morris said the Midlands’ outdoor tradition and Lake Murray fishing drew the brand to the market. Officials said the building will use a custom look meant to echo the area’s outdoor culture and conservation roots.
Bass Pro Shops said the Irmo location will carry fishing, hunting, camping and hiking gear and lean into an immersive shopping experience instead of a plain big-box floor plan. The company also flagged an everyday discount for veterans, active-duty service members, police, firefighters and state fish-and-wildlife staff.
Managers have not pinned a calendar day past the late-2027 window. Shoppers and job seekers in Irmo will watch for construction progress and career postings as work advances on Broad River Road.
