Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet staged its annual Harvest Home Weekend on Oct. 3-4, drawing families for pumpkin decorating, scarecrow building and other fall traditions in the Arboretum.
Visitors could pick small pumpkins for $5 or large ones for $9, assemble mystery scarecrow kits for $7 to take home (or free if they brought outfits), and explore a hay maze plus craft tables. Live music featured Doug and the Doc and the Sea-Cruz Duo through the afternoon.
Food options included Brookgreen restaurants and trucks such as EZ Cheezy, Lets Ride BBQ, Kona Ice and Beachside Fluff. Vendors offered pottery, sweetgrass baskets, Gullah dolls and artist book signings. Members entered free with membership; non-members used garden admission.
