Notable Matchups on the Horizon

The schedule includes the much-anticipated three-game series against longtime rival Clemson, which will begin in Clemson on February 28, 2025. The rivalry continues with the second game at Fluor Field in Greenville, followed by the final contest on March 2 at Founders Park in Columbia. These games are pivotal for both teams and draw considerable attention from alumni and students alike.

The season kicks off on February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, when the Gamecocks will host Sacred Heart in their opening game. This matchup marks the beginning of the Paul Mainieri era, as he takes over as head coach. The Gamecocks will look to build momentum with a three-game series against Sacred Heart, followed by midweek games against Winthrop and Queens.

Core Home and Away Games

As the season progresses, South Carolina will host several other teams, including Milwaukee from February 21 to February 23 and Gardner-Webb on February 25. The Gamecocks will also engage in a series with Morehead State from March 7 to March 9. This diverse range of matchups is designed to prepare the team for the demanding SEC schedule that begins on March 14 against Oklahoma.

Neutral Site Games to Highlight the Season

Part of the excitement for the season includes two notable neutral-site games. The first will take place at Segra Park in Columbia when the Gamecocks face the College of Charleston on March 18. Following that, on March 25, the Gamecocks will head to Truist Field in Charlotte to battle with North Carolina. These games provide a unique opportunity for fans outside of Columbia to support their team in different venues.

Midweek Challenges and Additional Games

The Gamecocks have arranged numerous midweek games that will keep the players on their toes, including challenges against Georgia State, Presbyterian, USC Upstate, The Citadel, North Florida, Charleston Southern, and Winthrop throughout the spring. These contests are strategically placed to provide the team with a mix of competition leading into their SEC games.

Looking Ahead to SEC Competition

In addition to the non-conference matchups, the Gamecocks will enter a 30-game SEC schedule that has already been announced, commencing on March 14. Team officials have noted that specific game times could change based on television scheduling, which reflects the ongoing adaptability needed for collegiate sports.
