Columbia Set to See Improvements at Busy Downtown Intersection

Construction at a crucial intersection near Allen University and Benedict College is nearing completion, with an anticipated wrap-up date set for early January. Making Downtown Safer and More Attractive
City officials have been working hard to bring some much-needed upgrades to the Taylor Street intersection. The goal? Improved pedestrian safety and a breath of fresh air to the curb appeal of the area. According to Columbia Assistant City Manager Clint Shealy, this project aims to “beautify the entryway into both Benedict and Allen University, creating a lovely corridor along Harden Street.”
A Closer Look at the Upgrades
So, what kind of changes can you expect? Well, among the many impressive upgrades, there are freshly paved sidewalks, new crosswalks, and shortened pedestrian crossings. These enhancements will make it easier and safer for folks to navigate the busy streets.
