So, what types of projects are eligible for funding? The focus here is on initiatives that will enhance downtown revitalization, promote tourism, improve public safety, and develop vital infrastructure. Notably, projects aimed at emergency planning are also welcomed into the fold. However, it’s important to know that this funding does come with some requirements. To qualify, applicants must be 501c3 nonprofits, businesses, or government entities operating within the port district and are required to match a minimum of 20% of the funds they are requesting.
The grant program offers options for both Small Grants, which will be distributed in two phases, and Large Grants for more established organizations with support from three community letters. As for what projects won’t be considered, political activities, inherently religious activities, and individual school athletics will not qualify for funding. This ensures that the focus remains on benefiting the broader community.
