She graduated from Hebron High School and went on to attend Columbia College, setting the stage for a life devoted to education. After completing her studies, Flora embarked on her teaching journey, beginning her career in Florence, SC. However, it wasn’t long before she found her home in the Lexington 5 School District, where her impact would be profoundly felt.
Her career in education spanned several decades, culminating in her role as Principal at Harbison West Elementary School, a position she held until her retirement in 1999. Known affectionately as “Flor Kathryn” by her family and friends, she was a favorable figure among students, parents, fellow educators, and administrators alike.
