SAN FRANCISCO — Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, told prospective investors that quarterly revenue reached $16.8 billion for July through September as it moves toward one of the largest stock market debuts on record, people familiar with the matter said.
Sales had been about $11.6 billion in the spring quarter and $4.7 billion in the opening quarter of 2026. The company also said it turned a profit on an adjusted basis for the latest three months, the people said.
The numbers were shared Wednesday during a presentation for would-be investors at the company headquarters in San Francisco. The company would not discuss the figures or when the offering will happen.
Formal marketing of the shares could begin during the week of Nov. 9, which would set up trading before Thanksgiving. Plans could still shift, but the listing is expected to close before 2027 arrives. Ahead of the presentation, investors had floated a valuation of $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion.
The quarter marks a sharp swing from 2025, when Anthropic brought in about $4.6 billion in revenue, up from $386 million a year earlier, while losing close to $42 billion on a net basis.
The company is racing rivals including OpenAI for investor dollars as competition in advanced AI models intensifies and regulators pay closer attention to the industry.
