IRMO, S.C. — Residents of Irmo, S.C., are invited to spend Tuesday evening with the town’s police officers. The Irmo Police Department and the Town of Irmo will host National Night Out from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Moore Park, located at 7473 Church Street.
The free, family-friendly event will feature an evening of food, music, games, prizes and inflatables, and organizers said a helicopter will also be part of the fun. The Irmo Police Department Community Foundation is helping host the event along with the town and the police department.
National Night Out is part of a nationwide effort to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Locally, organizers describe it as a chance for residents to meet Irmo officers and town officials in a fun, welcoming setting. Police Chief Bobby Dale said building strong relationships with the community is an important part of the department’s work, and that events like this let officers connect with families.
Admission is free, and activities are planned for families with children of all ages. Event updates are posted on the event’s social media page, and residents with questions can contact the Irmo Police Department.
