U.S. Army Plans Reorganization at Fort Jackson
The U.S. Army is planning a reorganization at Fort Jackson that will integrate two significant training schools into the post’s Soldier Support Institute (SSI). The SSI at Fort Jackson is a primary training organization responsible for educating and developing personnel for the Army’s human resources and financial management systems.
Under the proposed plan, the Adjutant General School and the Financial Management School are expected to merge into the institute. The stated objective of this merger is to enhance and standardize Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) support across its six sustainment schools, according to Dani Johnson, CASCOM public affairs director.
Officials have indicated that no jobs will be lost as a result of this reorganization. Soldiers will transition into similar roles, and civilian employees will remain assigned to CASCOM while continuing their work at Fort Jackson. With the discontinuation of the SSI, the Adjutant General School and the Financial Management School will operate as separate entities.
CASCOM has communicated that the Army anticipates making a final decision regarding these changes during fiscal year 2027.
