Following high school, she pursued higher education at the University of South Carolina, majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Before establishing herself as an influential figure in Irmo, Sally served as the Teen Page editor for the Columbia Record and represented her high school on the Teen Community Affairs board of Belk department store.
