Born on March 9, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Sally was the daughter of the late Jack Edsel Sale and Mary Doris Wilkinson Sale (Feathers). She graduated from Irmo High School in 1968, where she excelled as a star basketball player, lettering from her sophomore to senior years. Following high school, she pursued higher education at the University of South Carolina, majoring in Early Childhood Education.

Before establishing herself as an influential figure in Irmo, Sally served as the Teen Page editor for the Columbia Record and represented her high school on the Teen Community Affairs board of Belk department store. She was actively involved in her school community, having been selected to draft the Irmo High School Honor Creed and chosen as a delegate to the American Legion Auxiliary Palmetto Girls State.

In 1987, she opened her own ladies clothing store, Ethan’s Girls, in Irmo. Throughout her career, Sally worked in several successful companies, primarily in the commercial construction industry, before transitioning to real estate in March 2002. In October 2008, she co-founded Acquire Real Estate Inc. with her sister and brother-in-law and quickly gained a reputation for her motivational skills and natural leadership abilities.

She was a devoted wife to Joe Grooms for 36 years and proudly dedicated herself as a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. A visitation for Sally will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, in Irmo, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to PETSinc, an organization dedicated to helping animals.
