A Gaffney man is jailed after South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents charged him with trying to cash stolen lottery scratch-off tickets, authorities said.

Zarmonn Brushaud Boyd, 27, was charged Sept. 29 with intent to defraud, counterfeit game tickets. The same day he was also charged with second-degree burglary, Cherokee County court records show. Bond on the combined cases was set at $25,000 and had not been posted.

On Sept. 26, Boyd tried to redeem stolen scratch-offs in Cherokee County after taking lottery games from the Ingles Market at 410 West 3rd St. in Gaffney, an arrest warrant states. The South Carolina Education Lottery requested the SLED investigation. The 7th Circuit Solicitor Office will prosecute.

If convicted on the felony lottery fraud count, Boyd faces up to five years in prison and a $50,000 fine under state law.
