## South Carolina Equestrian Team Begins Season with Exhibition Victory

The No. 1 South Carolina Equestrian team started its season with an exhibition meet against Hollins in Blythewood, SC. The Gamecocks tied Hollins 5-5 overall but secured a victory based on raw scores, 828-773. This event was the first of three meets scheduled at One Wood Farm this weekend.

Hollins took the Fences event with a 4-1 score. Eddyn Molden earned the sole point for the Gamecocks in Fences, riding Schnitzel to defeat Juliana Guggino 79-70.

The Gamecocks responded by winning the Flat event 4-1. Chloe Tanner scored an 88 on Murphy, while Paris Levy achieved an impressive 93 on Dento. Vanessa McCaughley, riding Major, scored a 91, and Amira Kettaneh scored an 88 on Fenway. Both Vanessa McCaughley’s and Paris Levy’s scores were career highs. McKayla Brombach also made her South Carolina debut, competing on Nino in the Flat event.

According to NCEA rules, meets between dual discipline teams and single discipline teams do not count toward overall team records, but individual rider statistics from these meets are counted.

South Carolina is scheduled to compete against Sewanee at One Wood Farm at 11:30 a.m. the following day.
