Healthcare USA, the parent company of the MLILY mattress manufacturing plant in Winnsboro, recently released a statement following a fire that destroyed the facility last month. The massive fire at the plant erupted on August 16, resulting in the facility being deemed a total loss.

Hundreds of factory workers were displaced due to the loss of the plant. In response, Fairfield County leaders, state workforce agencies, and regional employers organized multiple job fairs in Winnsboro. These events aimed to connect affected employees with immediate job openings and unemployment benefits.

Healthcare SC is currently evaluating options for restoring operations and employment. The company is engaged in active discussions with Fairfield County and state officials regarding these efforts. Meanwhile, the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) has provided ongoing updates, indicating that monitoring data shows no harmful impacts to air quality.
