Kofinas garlic olive oil recalled by FDA

LMSI LLC, doing business as Kofinas Olive Oil, is voluntarily recalling its Garlic Mediterranean Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil because the product contains a garlic essential oil that is not approved for culinary use, according to the recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration.

The recalled product was bottled in glass bottles in three sizes: 500 mL, 250 mL, and 100 mL. According to the FDA notice, the recalled bottles were available for sale from August 31, 2025 through August 27, 2026 at two Cincinnati locations — Montgomery Store & Infusion Kitchen (8210 Market Place Ln., Cincinnati, OH 45242) and Findlay Market (1801 Race St., Cincinnati, OH 45202) — and through online orders placed directly at www.kofinasoliveoil.com.

The reason for the recall, as stated in the FDA notice, is that the flavored oil was infused with a garlic essential oil that is not approved for culinary use. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the recalled product.

According to the FDA, customers who have purchased the recalled product should stop using it and either dispose of it or return it to the point of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company through the retailer where the product was purchased or through the company’s website.

Voluntary recalls are food-safety actions initiated by a company after a product is identified as violating FDA regulations. FDA posts the notices in its Recalls, Market Withdrawals and Safety Alerts database. The Kofinas recall covers only the specific product named above; no other Kofinas products are included in the recall notice.
